HOW DO THEY WORK?

In this dredging method a large amount of water is forced at low pressure into the silt, using pumps that inject the water via a horizontal tube fitted with a set of diffusers.

This injection of water alters the density of the silt layer until it becomes fluid, creating a current which, using gravity and natural currents, will carry the material outside the dredging area, with no need for the silt to be raised vertically.

The effectiveness of the WID method depends on such factors as the type of silt, bathymetry/geometry, currents, tides, weather conditions and the location of the dredging area.
